Kids Winter Watercolour Art Club
A 5-Week Winter Watercolour Journey for Children Aged 6–13
Join us for a five-week Winter Watercolour Journey as part of our Kids Winter Art Club — a fun, structured programme designed to build creativity, confidence and real watercolour skills.
Each Saturday, children will follow step-by-step guided tuition to complete a new winter-themed watercolour painting. Every project introduces a different technique, with skills gradually building from week to week.
Younger artists can enjoy exploring colour, water and brushwork, while older children will be encouraged to develop greater control, layering and understanding of genuine watercolour techniques.

Our 5-Week Winter Watercolour Journey
Week 1 — Saturday 14 November
Winter Robin
Water Control & Wet-on-Dry
Children begin with one of the most important watercolour skills — learning how much water to use and how to control the paint on dry paper.
They will build their winter robin using light washes, stronger colour and simple layered details.
Week 2 — Saturday 21 November
Northern Lights
Wet-on-Wet
Children discover the magic of wet-on-wet watercolour, allowing blues, greens and purples to flow and blend together to create a dramatic Northern Lights sky.
They will also learn how leaving areas of white paper untouched can help create snow and light.
Week 3 — Saturday 28 November
Penguin Pair
Colour Mixing & Layering
Children paint an adult penguin and chick against a soft winter sky while learning how to mix greys and blue-greys rather than relying on flat black.
Light layers are gradually built to create depth while keeping the beautiful transparent quality of watercolour.
Week 4 — Saturday 5 December
Winter Hare
Washes & Soft Edges
A colourful winter sunset provides the backdrop for this beautiful hare painting.
Children will practise blending soft washes, creating gentle colour transitions and using both soft and controlled edges.
Week 5 — Saturday 12 December
Red Truck in the Snow
Layering, Contrast & Simple Shadows
For the final painting, children create a bright red winter truck carrying a snowy evergreen tree.
They will bring together techniques learned throughout the Art Club, building colour in layers and using contrast and simple shadows to create depth.
What Will They Learn?
Throughout the five-week journey, children will explore practical beginner watercolour techniques including water control, wet-on-dry, wet-on-wet, colour mixing, washes, blending, layering, soft and hard edges, contrast and simple shadows.
Each project is created on A4 watercolour paper. At the end of the Art Club, children will have a complete five-piece Winter Watercolour Art Portfolio to take home.
This is a structured, skills-based Art Club, rather than a free-play craft session. Children are guided through each painting step by step while still having opportunities to make creative choices and develop their own style.
Booking & Attendance
Places are limited and must be booked in advance.
The Winter Art Club is booked as a complete five-week block rather than as individual sessions. A booking secures your child’s place for all five weeks.
Course fees are non-refundable, as studio spaces and materials are allocated in advance.
If a child is unable to attend a session, missed lessons cannot be refunded, credited, transferred or made up on another date.
If Creative Image Studio has to cancel a class, an alternative session or appropriate credit/refund will be offered.
Children must be at least 6 years old at the start of the Art Club.
On the Day
Classes are drop-off only — parents and carers do not stay during the session.
Please arrive promptly so the group can begin the lesson together.
All materials are provided. Children should wear clothes that can get messy while painting.
Five weeks. Five winter paintings. Five new watercolour skills. One creative winter journey to take home.
