6-Week Autumn Painting Journey

A fun, structured six-week painting course for children aged 6–13, designed to build creativity, confidence and real art skills.

Each Saturday, children will follow step-by-step guided tuition to complete a new autumn-themed acrylic painting. Every project introduces a different technique and builds on skills learned in previous weeks.

Younger artists can enjoy exploring colour, paint and brushwork, while older children will be encouraged to develop their technique and understanding of key art principles.

Week 1 — Saturday 12 September

Autumn Tree
Colour Mixing & Brush Marks

Children begin by exploring autumn colour, learning how to mix warm colours, layer paint and use different brush marks to create a vibrant autumn tree.

Week 2 — Saturday 19 September

Autumn Fox
Texture & Direction

Children discover how short, directional brushstrokes can create fur and texture while developing greater brush control.

Week 3 — Saturday 26 September

Rainy Autumn Day
Reflections

This colourful rainy-day painting introduces reflections and horizontal brushwork, showing how colours and shapes change when reflected in water.

Week 4 — Saturday 3 October

Pumpkin Patch
Light, Shadow & Form

Children use highlights, mid-tones and shadows to turn simple pumpkin shapes into objects that appear rounded and three-dimensional.

Week 5 — Saturday 10 October

Misty Woodland & Deer
Depth & Perspective

Children create a misty autumn woodland while learning how changes in colour, value and size can make objects appear closer or further away.

Week 6 — Saturday 17 October

Moonlight Owl
Contrast & Focal Point

For the final painting, children bring together techniques learned throughout the course, using texture, light, colour and contrast to create a moonlit autumn owl.

What Will They Learn?

Over the six weeks, children will learn practical acrylic painting techniques including colour mixing, brush control, texture, reflections, light and shadow, form, depth, perspective and contrast.

Each project is painted on an A4 canvas sheet. At the end of the course, children will have a complete six-piece autumn art portfolio to take home.

This is a structured, skills-based art course, rather than a free-play craft session. Children are guided through each project step by step while still having opportunities to make creative choices and develop their own style.

Booking & Attendance

Places are limited and must be booked in advance.

The course is booked as a complete six-week block rather than as individual sessions. A booking secures the child’s place for all six weeks.

Course fees are non-refundable, as studio spaces and materials are allocated in advance.

If a child is unable to attend a session, missed lessons cannot be refunded, credited, transferred or made up on another date.

If Creative Image Studio has to cancel a class, an alternative session or appropriate credit/refund will be offered.

Children must be at least 6 years old at the start of the course.

On the Day

Classes are drop-off only — parents and carers do not stay during the session.

Please arrive promptly so the group can begin the lesson together.

All materials are provided. Children should wear clothes that can get messy, as acrylic paint may permanently stain clothing.
