Your 5-Week Winter Acrylic Journey

Week 1 — Friday 6 November

Winter Robin
Blending & Layered Brushwork

Start with a soft winter background before building the robin using simple layers of colour.

You’ll learn how to blend a background, block in large shapes, build colour gradually and use directional brushstrokes to suggest feathers without overcomplicating the painting.

Week 2 — Friday 13 November

Northern Lights
Blending & Colour Transitions

Create a dramatic winter night sky using blues, greens, turquoise and violet.

This project focuses on blending smooth colour transitions, building the Northern Lights in simple sweeping shapes and adding a snowy landscape and reflections underneath.

Week 3 — Friday 20 November

Penguin Pair
Colour Mixing & Form

Paint an adult penguin and chick using a limited winter palette.

You’ll learn how to mix blue-greys rather than relying on flat black, create rounded form with light and shadow, and add soft texture to the chick.

Week 4 — Friday 27 November

Winter Hare
Texture, Depth & Soft Blending

Create a winter hare against a colourful sunset sky.

This lesson introduces soft blending in the background, simple depth through colour and value, and directional brushwork to suggest fur without painting every detail.

Week 5 — Friday 4 December

Red Truck in the Snow
Layering, Highlights & Shadows

For the final painting, bring together the techniques developed over the previous four weeks.

You’ll build the truck in layers, create depth with darker and lighter reds, add simple snow highlights and use cool shadows to make the scene feel three-dimensional.

What Will You Learn?

Across the five weeks, you’ll explore practical beginner acrylic techniques including blending, colour mixing, layering, brush control, texture, highlights, shadows, contrast and simple depth.

Each finished painting is created on a 30 × 30cm square canvas panel, giving you a coordinated set of five winter artworks to take home.

This is a structured, skills-based Art Club, but the atmosphere is relaxed and supportive. You’ll be guided through every painting step by step, with plenty of help along the way.

Booking & Attendance

Places are limited and must be booked in advance.

The Winter Acrylic Art Club is booked as a complete five-week block rather than as individual sessions.

Fees are non-refundable, as studio spaces and materials are allocated in advance.

If you are unable to attend a session, missed lessons cannot be refunded, credited, transferred or made up on another date.

If Creative Image Studio has to cancel a class, an alternative session or appropriate credit/refund will be offered.

What to Bring

Everything you need is provided, so you can simply arrive and enjoy painting.

Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy, as acrylic paint can permanently stain clothing.

Five weeks. Five winter paintings. Five new acrylic skills. One creative winter journey.
